If your looking to sell physical or electronic products and don’t want to build a full ecommerce website using Magento, ezPublish or Joomla and the like, then the fastest and most feature rich approach is to use something like 1ShoppingCart.
Now obviously you can go down the road of implementing an ecommerce platform, and I have done so myself for many projects, but no matter which platform you use you will eventually hit the “Feature wall” where the features you want are just not available.
Lets say you want to sell a downloadable product made up of ebooks, videos and audio files, then one of the issues will be protecting the content from being downloaded by people who haven’t bought it. So you’ll need some sort of download protection.

These days search engines are pretty smart – gone are the days of looking at keyword density, or keyword stuffing – if you were into the slightly grey hat side of seo back in the early 90’s.
Search engines read websites the same way we do. We focus on the headlines, the emphasized text in bold or italic, we scan the pictures etc, and we do this to quickly understand what the page is about.

We can spend a lot of time thinking about keyword research, keyword placement, meta tags and the rest of the seo stuff. But in reality the only thing that actually matters is how Google actually indexes the content on our page. After all if it’s not actually indexed we can forget about ranking for it.
The easiest way of seeing this is to check our pages against the Google index. And it’s really simple. Now we can do this for our own pages, and also for every other page in the index, as well as our competitors.

Can you estimate how long it will take you to get a first page position in the search results? It’s possible, but what if you ignored it?
