If your looking to sell physical or electronic products and don’t want to build a full ecommerce website using Magento, ezPublish or Joomla and the like, then the fastest and most feature rich approach is to use something like 1ShoppingCart.

Now obviously you can go down the road of implementing an ecommerce platform, and I have done so myself for many projects, but no matter which platform you use you will eventually hit the “Feature wall” where the features you want are just not available.

These days search engines are pretty smart – gone are the days of looking at keyword density, or keyword stuffing – if you were into the slightly grey hat side of seo back in the early 90’s.

Search engines read websites the same way we do. We focus on the headlines, the emphasized text in bold or italic, we scan the pictures etc, and we do this to quickly understand what the page is about.

Back in 2005, or there abouts, Google introduced a new html tag to it’s arsenal of tools to try and combat spam. At that time there was a growing amount of blog comment spam and “blog and ping” tactics to bring link love from blog site to their own site.

Essentially they would find a blog site that was on topic for their chosen keyword, write a comment under the appropriate blog post and voila… a new ‘1-way’ incoming link is created, complete with PageRank. Simplicity itself.
